An Honest Experiment
Testing La Prairie’s Cashmere Body Cream for 4 Weeks
It’s been one of the coldest winters I can remember—and even Miami hasn’t been spared. Low temperatures, dry indoor air, and constant travel have left my skin feeling tighter and duller than usual. So when I was invited to La Prairie’s latest partnership opening cocktails at the St. Regis Bal Harbour, the timing felt perfect.
The evening was classic La Prairie: elegant, indulgent, and deeply caviar-coded. Their signature cobalt blue packaging lined every corner of the room. Guests sampled eye creams with tiny silver caviar spoons, misting sprays, and dabbed toners to their already made-up faces. At the entrance, a long table filled with cotton pads invited everyone to test and compare textures. Everywhere I turned, someone was whispering, “This is the best, right?” And honestly—everyone’s skin really was glowing. There was champagne, a caviar bar, and a gentle nod to one of the brand’s most iconic hashtags I used to use in the early days of Instagram: champagne wishes, caviar dreams.

I’ve known and have been using La Prairie for more than ten years, dating back to my early beauty editorial days when I wrote about their caviar line for various magazines here, here and here. What has always fascinated me isn’t just the luxury price point and over the top packaging, but also the science that goes into developing each product.
Behind the glamour is a serious research lab in Switzerland, staffed by big time scientists focused on advanced skincare technology when it comes to anti-aging. That combination of heritage, innovation, and clinical rigor is what has kept me paying attention all these years. I even have a book I received at one of the LP counters years ago!
So it was exciting to be introduced to their newest product: La Prairie Cashmere Body Cream. I left with a sample...and an idea.
Lately, as I’ve been diving deeper into data science and structured testing, I’ve become more curious about how beauty products actually perform beyond beautiful packaging and poetic claims.
So instead of simply “trying” the cream, I decided to design a small personal experiment.
La Prairie describes the Cashmere Body Cream as:
“A biomimetic formula inspired by the skin’s natural extracellular matrix and the luxurious softness of cashmere. It envelops the skin in a protective veil, activating signaling receptors that support cellular renewal for strength and softness.”
Their clinical testing reports improvements after 2 and 4 weeks, including:
After 2 weeks
Visible spot reduction
Reinforced skin barrier
After 4 weeks
Improved firmness and elasticity
More even skin tone
Skin feels cushioned and nourished
These claims are backed by internal clinical trials with 40 panelists at each stage using instrumental measurements, expert grading, and self-assessments.
I’ve always been a bit self-conscious about the front of my legs.
Between mosquito bites, random scars from falling, and even a burn from a massage chair, I have lingering dark marks and uneven texture. Despite loving my legs, I’ve mostly relied on simple shea butter for years, nothing more targeted.
This felt like the perfect opportunity to see if a high-end, science-backed body cream could actually make a visible difference.
The Experiment Design
Hypothesis:
Using La Prairie Cashmere Body Cream daily for four weeks will improve the texture, tone, and overall appearance of my skin—particularly on areas with dark marks.
Duration:
4 weeks
Application Method:
Dry brushing before showering at night
Post-shower application once daily
No other body creams or oils used during the test period
Same routine applied to both legs for consistency
Measurement Plan:
Baseline photos before Day 1
Progress photos at:
Week 2
Week 4
Subjective assessment of:
Texture
Hydration
Appearance of dark marks
Overall skin feel
I’ll be treating this as close to a “real” self-run clinical test as possible.
Sensory Review (First Impressions)
Even before results, the experience of this cream deserves its own moment. Upon opening the signature heavy silver twist off cap, the aluminum seal that feels like a desert treat. From the moment you unleash the lux, the texture is rich and indulgent, but not heavy. It glides on like a balm, then melts into the skin, leaving behind a soft, glow finish.
The fragrance feels like quiet luxury: velvety caviar signature scnet like their face cream but a bit less pungent with delicate rosy notes—warm, comforting, and refined. It’s the kind of scent that makes an everyday routine feel ceremonial. La Prairie calls it a “cashmere embrace,” and that’s exactly how it feels.
Over the next four weeks, I’ll be documenting:
Changes in skin tone
Reduction of visible marks
Improvements in softness and elasticity
Whether the results justify the investment
In two weeks, I’ll share my Week 2 progress photos on TikTok. At the end of the month, I’ll publish a full before-and-after review with honest conclusions.
