Lens Creator Lab: An Overview of Notes and Action Items

When I discovered that Lens was recruiting creators for their third cohort, I was excited to participate because I wanted to learn more about the platform! Lens Creator Lab is a month-long program that enables creators to explore new ways of monetizing their ideas through art, technology, and innovation, all through blockchain. The program brings together like-minded artists to learn about the new internet and how Lens can help them get their art into the hands of people who matter the most and are willing to pay for it. In this post, we will examine some of our notes and action items newbies can do to establish themselves in the community. 

Tip #1 Create a Genesis Post As an Icebreaker 

The first week of the lens creator program is an overview of the features, community, and engagement. The lens team recommends creating a Genesis post to introduce your lens profile and whole vibe to the community. This is also a vital engagement tactic because the lens community is so active and welcoming; this is a great way to integrate into the conversation. It's like walking into a house party with frens you may not know but share the same interests. 

Tip #2 Choose a Niche To Start Testing Out Monetization Strategies 

The Lens Creator Lab is focused on helping participants hone in on what type of content they want to live on Lens and then distributing that in ways that will be rewarded. Many indie musicians and collectives, and early adopter technologists use Lens! With Lens' "collect" feature, you could monetize individual posts for USDC and MATIC. The "mirror" feature can also double as a subscriber marker, letting you know that Lensters endorsed not only what you posted, but you can then go back and reward them with exclusive token-gate content! 

Tip #3 How to Introduce Post Monetization on Lens 

There's a whole session dedicated to monetization and the Dapp created on lens protocol. Users can mint a paid post for 24 hours and set it as an "open edition," which means your followers on Lens have 24 hours to claim it! This distribution strategy is becoming widely used in the NFT space when creating hype and urgency around an NFT drop. 

Tip #4 Use Data on Dune Analytics to Your Advantage 

One of the last Lens Creator Labs sessions was about how on-chain data can optimize how you speak to your followers on Lens. The team shared everything we needed to know to get information from the Lens Protocol off platforms like DUNE. They covered Unlock Protocol, Fold, and WAV3S. WAV3S allows users to pay their followers for "Mirroring" their posts and is a tool to promote past posts. They also offer incentivized feedback on articles and allow interaction with those who "Mirror" your posts from the dashboard.

#Tip 5 Data and Security 

One of the most attractive features of Lenster is that all your data is stored in an ERC721 NFT. All your posts are neatly stored as an NFT and connected to your Web3 wallet. We recommend creating a dedicated wallet for security purposes. You can read more in their docs here.

Each week the Lab showcased different Dapps and new tools to use to grow on Lens, including which communities to follow: @creators.lens and podcasters.lens, which are our favorite and, of course, our favorite @stani.lens and @bradley.lens. 

• The Bello Demo allows users to claim a free NFT on Polygon and connect their wallets to learn more about their collectibles. The team is working on improving their ability to search ERC-20s, but they can only search NFTs.
